Game On!

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Song of 7/27/10: Game On by The cast of The Guild. A new music video by the cast of The Guild was released today. This one is a Bollywood parody. It’s awesome because first of all, Bollywood needs to be mocked (while I think the costumes are beautiful and the culture surrounding it is deep and spectacular, I firmly believe that not everything is song worthy and I can’t really stand watching Bollywood movies for that reason). It also helps that last fall semester I took a Hinduism class and there is a part that references the Hindu gods. It made me laugh, this whole video is just hilarious. That’s one of the things I really like about The Guild. You don’t need to play World of Warcraft to appreciate it. Everyone who would have heard of it is someone who probably knows someone like that if anything. For instance, I’ve never played WOW but I know a lot of people who do so I can still find the stereotypes funny. Plus the song is really creative and the actors who do most of the singing know how to sing and the actors that dance know how to dance. It utilizes everyones talents. I know they were worried about topping Date My Avatar. This wasn’t better but equally as awesome by every means. I really enjoyed it. I even LOL’ed for real.

Do you wanna date my avatar?

Song of 3/30/10: Do you wanna date my avatar by members of The Guild (namely Felicia Day). This video will give you a nerdgasm. It’s an extra from the webshow The Guild, a nerd show about a group of people who play DnD. The music video is really funny, as is the rest of the show. I don’t play DnD but I wish I did sometimes, it looks like a lot of fun and while this show lets you in on a bit of the horrors (as in, putting DnD before all else) it still looks like a lot of fun and this shows it. Watch the whole thing before you make any judgments and you’ll probably be laughing by the end!
